Located on a small triangle-shaped plot in one of Sydney‘s most sought-after suburbs, this modern one-storey 3 bedroom home has it all. From the front, this heritage-listed home shows off its traditional facade, but at the rear, it was given a contemporary update. The clients‘ design brief was clear: bricks, timber, steel, stone. Following this thoughtful mix of natural materials, the house became an absolute feel-good ‚Oasis‘ with a rustic and organic touch.
Exposed brick walls are the main design feature and create a visual connection throughout the house, between the existing and the extension. The new brick walls are built of reused bricks from existing walls that have been pulled down during the renovation process.
Black floor-to-ceiling black-framed bi-fold doors maximise light and space and help to link the outdoor entertaining zones with the kitchen, dining and living area. Embracing the unusual shape of the land, a unique custom-made triangular-shaped plunge pool was added to make the most of the narrow backyard.
Bedrooms and bathrooms all follow the same interior guidelines. Hand-made Morrocan concrete tiles do not only form a bold contrast to the clean wall tiling but also bring warmth and character to these often faceless environments. Luxurious rain showerheads, underfloor heating and exclusive steel-cut bench basins ultimately turn them into a private spa. We designed timber veneer built-in joinery and floating vanities that offer space for washing appliances and necessities.
